NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (AP) — Ten people escaped injury after an engine fire left a tug boat disabled off Block Island.
Coast guard crews from four stations responded to the fire at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon aboard the Viking, a 126-foot tug. The boat was about 18 miles east of Block Island when the fire broke out.
The Coast Guard says nobody was injured and no pollution was released into the water.
The owner of the tug boat sent two others to the scene and crews were eventually able to get the engines restarted.
The tug made it back to shore under escort.
