PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Prosecutors say an 18-year-old man plotted with three other people to steal money and drugs, leading to the fatal shootings of three people two years ago.

Attorneys gave opening statements Wednesday in the murder trial of Quandell Husband, charged in the July 2012 slayings at a Providence apartment.

The Providence Journal reports prosecutor James Baum said Husband may not have been the shooter, but he is just as guilty as the co-conspirators who acknowledged their crimes.

Defense attorney Thomas Briody said Husband was a mile away at home with his family when the killings occurred.

Husband is one of four men, including three teens, charged in the slayings of a young couple — Shemeeka Barros and Michael Martin — and their friend Damien Colon.

Three children were in the home at the time but weren't hurt.
