PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Providence police say a 20-year-old man was shot and killed overnight in the city.

WPRI-TV reports Major David Lapatin identified the victim as Ty-shon Perry. Police say Perry was outside a home near the intersection of River Avenue and Allston Street shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday when someone approached on foot, fired at him and fled.

Perry was taken to a hospital but died shortly thereafter.

Lapatin says no one has been arrested in the shooting. No further details were released.
