Air show returns to Rhode Island after 1 year away

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — The National Guard open house and air show has returned to Rhode Island.

One year after federal budget cuts and the sequester forced the annual air show to be canceled, the Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show is back this weekend at Quonset State Airport.

Scheduled acts for the air show that debuted in 1991 include an F-22 Raptor, and stunt pilots Sean Tucker and John Klatt along with the Navy's daredevil Blue Angels.

WPRI-TV reports the show is expected to draw between 50,000 to 60,000 this weekend.

The air show is free, but a $10 donation is encouraged.
