WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) — Police in Westerly say it's still not clear what caused a windshield to shatter on a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority bus in an incident that injured the driver.

Authorities say the windshield shattered at about 1 p.m. Friday along Route 1 near a Wal-Mart store. The female driver pulled over in the store parking lot and was taken to Westerly Hospital to be treated for glass fragments in and around one of her eyes.

The Westerly Sun reports that it's unclear what happened to the bus and its passengers after the driver was brought to the hospital.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Westerly police.
