CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) _ A 21-year-old Cranston man says his military and emergency medical technician training allowed him to help aid a motorcyclist who crashed near his home.
The Providence Journal reports Dean Cooper performed first aid, and used a military blood-clotting powder to treat the man, who had been pinned under the motorcycle on the Plainfield Pike Sunday night.
Police have not identified the biker, who suffered leg injuries and a serious head laceration.
Cooper had once served as volunteer firefighter and says knowing what to do "just kind of takes over.''
