Central Falls lottery player becomes a millionaire

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) _ Another $1 million lottery prize has been claimed in Rhode Island _ this one by a retired bus driver in Central Falls.

Lottery officials say Dennis Edwards Jr. claimed his prize for the April 16 Mega Millions drawing on Friday.

His ticket matched five numbers and won $250,000 but he purchased a feature for an extra $1 that automatically quadrupled the prize. Officials say he thought he was claiming $250,000 ``and nearly fell over'' when he found out he had won much more.

Officials say he is a retired bus driver for handicapped children and has eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He says he plans to go to Disney World and might buy a house.

A Wakefield man turned in a Powerball ticket worth $1 million earlier this week.
