PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee has announced two nominations to the state's Judicial Nominating Commission.
The governor's office said Tuesday Chafee has nominated Scott Rabideau of Burrillville and Vince Watchorn of Providence to serve on the commission that screens applicants for openings on all of Rhode Island's courts.
Rabideau is a former state legislator who serves as president of Natural Resource Services. Watchorn is head of the Providence Country Day School. Chafee says both are leaders in their fields and will bring valuable insight and perspective.
After its screening process, the commission submits to the governor a list of several names for each vacancy.
The nominations of Rabideau and Watchorn are to fill the seats vacated by Alexander Biliouris and D. Faye Sanders, respectively.
