Children Taken from Home after Drug Raid

CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) _ A drug raid in Cranston has led to child endangerment charges after police say three children were found living in deplorable conditions.

WPRI-TV reports police removed the children from the home Monday after arresting 26-year-old Arcangela Calamita and 27-year-old Noel Johnson.

According to a police reports the home was filled with garbage, feces and maggots and officers wore masks during their search to deal with the smell. Police say they found crack cocaine and Vicodin inside the home.

Police took a 2-month-old, a 2-year-old and 9-year-old from the home along with seven dogs.

Calamita and Johnson, who also face drug charges, were ordered held without bond. It was not immediately clear if either has an attorney.
