PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The family of a 3-year-old girl who died after falling from the sixth floor of an apartment building in Providence is trying to raise money to pay for her funeral.

Relatives of Yalia Santos have set up a page at asking people to donate. They had raised about $640 of their $11,000 goal as of Monday morning.

Providence police say Yalia was visiting her grandmother Friday at the Hillcrest Village apartments when she fell out a screened-in window and landed on concrete below. She was pronounced dead at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

Yalia's mother told police that she had told her daughter to get away from the window and went into an adjoining room. She said she glanced back at the girl and saw her fall out the window.
