PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A Pawtucket man has been indicted on a charge of murder in the death of his 10-year-old daughter last summer.
The attorney general's office announced the indictment of Jorge DePina on Thursday by a Providence County grand jury.
He was arrested shortly after he brought the body of Aleida Cristiane DePina to a hospital on July 3. She died of small-bowel perforation, with peritonitis. The Pawtucket police accuse DePina of fatally beating the girl.
Aleida had grown up in Cape Verde with her mother and came to Rhode Island to live with her father in March 2011.
The 33-year-old DePina is set to be arraigned Jan. 22 in Superior Court.
