PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A former senior teller at the University of Rhode Island has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading no contest to an embezzlement charge.
The Providence Journal reports 61-year-old Fred Randall also was ordered Tuesday to pay the school $200,000 in restitution.
Prosecutors say Randall stole the money from the school's Feinstein College of Continuing Education in Providence between 2005 and 2011. They say Randall switched checks and deposits, allowing him to steal the difference.
They say Randall took the money to feed a gambling addiction. He is scheduled to report to prison on July 1.
