PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A lawyer for former House Speaker Gordon Fox says more than 100 grand jury subpoenas have been issued in what he said he believes is a wide-ranging investigation by federal and state authorities that includes looking at the failed 38 Studios deal.
Lawyer Albin Moser made the comments in court Thursday. He was arguing that the judge in a lawsuit brought over the 38 Studios deal should quash a subpoena issued to Fox for a range of documents related to Curt Schilling's now-bankrupt company.
Fox resigned as speaker in March, a day after his Statehouse office and home were raided by federal and state authorities. Authorities have not said what they're investigating.
Moser wouldn't say outside court how he knows about the subpoenas, or whether they're from a state or federal grand jury.
