Fox Subpoenaed for Documents in 38 Studios Suit

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Ex-House Speaker Gordon Fox has been subpoenaed in the 38 Studios lawsuit, including for records related to his involvement in the loan guarantee program under which the company got a $75 million state-backed loan.

Wells Fargo has subpoenaed Fox for documents related to ex-Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's bankrupt video game company. They include records related to any communications with Schilling and the company's efforts to secure additional financing.

Fox resigned as speaker in March after federal raids on his Statehouse office and home. Authorities haven't commented on the investigation.

A Fox attorney is seeking to quash the subpoena, saying he doesn't know the probe's scope and citing Fox's constitutional protection against self-incrimination.

Wells Fargo is named in the suit by Rhode Island's economic development agency.

WPRI-TV first reported on the subpoena.
