PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Gas prices in Rhode Island have fallen by a penny, leaving the local cost just a few cents above the national average.
The latest price survey by AAA Southern New England, released Monday, found the average cost of a gallon of regular self-serve in Rhode Island is $3.59.
Prices are up 4 cents from a month ago. The current price is 3 cents higher than the national per-gallon average of $3.56.
Rhode Islanders were paying on average 14 cents more, or $3.73 a gallon, a year ago at this time.
The AAA survey found a 21-cent range in prices, from a low of $3.50 a gallon to a high of $3.71.
