LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) — Lincoln police are asking for the public's help in finding a hit-and-run driver who struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police say a 23-year-old woman was hit by a car shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday while crossing Front Street near Franklin Street with a friend. The victim is reported to be in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital. Her name hasn't been released.

Authorities say they're looking for a light-colored, newer sedan — possibly a Hyundai or Toyota — that has front-end damage.

Police are trying to get video surveillance recordings from local businesses in an effort to identify the car and driver.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Lincoln police.
