CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) — A West Warwick man has been ordered held without bail on a murder charge in the Mother's Day stabbing death of his estranged wife.
Police say Robert Bethea had been under a no-contact order that was supposed to keep him away from 41-year-old Shelina Morenio.
Moreino's body was found Sunday inside her Central Falls apartment after Bethea called police to say he had stabbed her and neighbors reported hearing screams from the couple's 8-year-old daughter.
Bethea was free after receiving a suspended sentence in January on charges of domestic assault and vandalism.
The sentence also domestic-abuse counseling and included an order barring Bethea from having any contact with Moreino.
Bethea was arraigned Monday on charges including murder and violating that no-contact order.
