NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — A man is dead after an early-morning house fire in North Kingstown.
The man's name has not been released, but Chief Fenwick Gardner Jr. tells The Providence Journal the man was in his early 70s.
Neighbors say it was shortly after 3 a.m. Monday when they discovered the fire, and by then the home was fully engulfed in flames. The home was destroyed.
The chief says the man lived alone. His body was found in the rubble.
Firefighters say the blaze does not appear to be suspicious, but the cause is under investigation.
