Man Pleads Guilty to Murder of Car Wash Owner

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A Providence man has confessed and been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a Rhode Island car wash owner in 2012.

Jovani Torres entered his plea Monday before a Superior Court judge in Providence.

Authorities say surveillance video showed the 32-year-old Torres as he pulled a gun and shot Taveras following a fight outside Taveras' business on June 2.

Torres traveled to Florida following the shooting. In September U.S. Marshals tracked him to his sister's home in Lake Mary, Fla., where they found Torres in possession of a fake passport.
