Man waives bail hearing in Johnston double killing

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — A man accused of killing his former girlfriend and her adult daughter at their home in Johnston and kidnapping her 2-year-old son has waived his right to a bail hearing.

Daniel Rodriguez agreed to be held without bail during an appearance in Kent County District Court on Tuesday.

Rodriguez is charged with murder in last month's killing of 40-year-old Evelyn Burgos and 25-year-old Vanessa Perez at Burgos's home. Authorities say he also kidnapped Burgos's 2-year-old son, Isaiah Perez, who was later found unharmed in Providence.

The kidnapping prompted a nationwide Amber Alert.

Rodriguez has not entered a plea. His lawyer would not comment.
