Many attendees of the Boston Marathon are reporting that the large crowd and heavy security presence is not dampening their enjoyment. Dozens of fans tell NewsRadio 920's Angela Anderson that the air has been is filled with excitement.
"No terrorist is going to take Boston down," says Jennifer, a medical worker who was at the finish line to cheer on co-workers. "The survivors have been uplifting and they've been our rocks," she adds. Another spectator told Angela that she "needed to be a part of it" because this year's race was so special and meant so much to the city.
A marathon finisher named Joann says "The ten thousand more people who are running this year just made it more exciting and encouraging for everyone."
Over 36,000 runners are competing in this year's race, just one year after two bombs tore through a crowd near the finish line.
