PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Three-time Democratic nominee for Rhode Island governor Myrth York has endorsed Gina Raimondo in this year's race.

York said before a campaign roundtable on Providence's East Side on Wednesday that the general treasurer knows how to get things done and is the best candidate for the job. York had been a strong supporter of Providence Mayor Angel Taveras when he was running for the city's top job in 2010, serving as his campaign chair.

Raimondo and Taveras are running in the Democratic primary against Clay Pell, grandson of the late U.S. Sen. Claiborne Pell and husband of Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan.

York said Taveras has accomplished a lot in the capital but that "this is a different race and a different time."
