N. Providence Man held on Double Homicide Charges

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A North Providence man has been ordered held after being charged with a double homicide in his home.

Acting Police Chief Paul Martellini says on Monday that Mark Yu is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of failure to report a death. He says Yu was ordered held after his initial appearance in Kent County District Court. He did not know if Yu had a lawyer.

Martellini won't yet identify the victims, but he says Yu's parents lived with him at the home.

Police went to the house Sunday after Martellini says a relative called concerned that it had been a while since they heard from the people who lived there.

He would not release further details about what police think happened, saying the investigation continues.
