NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island's Department of Environmental Management is teaming up with the town of Narragansett for a charity fishing contest and seafood festival.
The third annual Galilee Fishing for Hope Tournament and Seafood Festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. It's intended to promote locally harvested seafood, commercial and recreational fishing industries and the port.
Visitors may watch operations of the Town Dock fish processing plant and climb aboard a commercial fishing boat. There will also be musical entertainment and a "fish and critters touch tank."
The Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association is also sponsoring the events.
Proceeds will benefit Rhode Island Special Olympics, the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation and Narragansett Parks Department's Family Assistance Program.
