NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — A 19-year-old Newport man has been indicted on charges of first-degree child molestation.

The Rhode Island attorney general's office said Tuesday a Newport County grand jury reported out an indictment last week charging Duane Gomes with five counts of child molestation.

He allegedly molested a child who was 14 or under between June 1 and July 31 of last year in Newport.

Gomes is scheduled to be arraigned in Newport Superior Court on Aug. 14.

A phone listing for him couldn't immediately be found.
