BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (AP) — A newspaper carrier is being credited with alerting the resident of a Burrillville duplex that his home was on fire.

The Woonsocket Call reports 29-year-old Nicholas Belanger noticed the fire while delivering copies of the Call on early Sunday morning on Chapel Street.

He called 911 and then began pounding on the door of the building.

The lone resident, Ian Gianlorenzo, was able to make it outside unharmed.
