PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The director of the Rhode Island Office of Management and Budget has been named chief executive officer of one of the state's major insurance providers.
Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island said Wednesday that its board of directors selected Peter M. Marino as the new CEO. He replaces interim CEO Jim Hooley.
Gov. Lincoln Chafee chose Marino nearly two years ago to lead the new state agency, created to oversee the state budget. Marino previously worked as Rhode Island Senate fiscal adviser.
Marino said he looks forward to being part of an organization that delivers quality health care and partners with the state to improve health care. He begins Sept. 1.
The health plan insures 140,000 state residents.
