PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — A 58-year-old Pawtucket man has been charged with raping a 16-year-old girl and selling her to other men for sex.

Police tell the Providence Journal Curtis Maxie, known as "Kellogg," has a lengthy criminal record.

He was ordered held without bond Wednesday after being arraigned on three counts of sexual assault, one count of sex trafficking a minor and conspiracy.

Police arrested Maxie in April after working with the parents of a 16-year-old runaway, who found her being offered as an escort online.

According to a police report, Maxie told officers he is a pimp and had many girls under his control.

Prosecutors say they will ask a judge to treat Maxie as a habitual criminal if he is convicted, which could add 25 years to any sentence.
