PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Negotiations to turn the site of the former Shooters nightclub in Providence into a performance venue have ended.

Officials with the state Department of Environmental Management tell WPRO-TV  they could not come to a financial agreement with Bowl Arts, the company that wanted to build a concert center of the site, which has been vacant since 2000.

The state acquired the land in 2010 and Bowl Arts was the only company to respond to a request for proposal to use the waterfront land.

The DEM says it plans to make some general improvements to the land, which is adjacent to India Point Park, and will continue to look for redevelopment opportunities.
