PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A suspect in the shooting of an aspiring rapper and his 15-year-old sister has been held without bail on charges of murder and felony assault.

Police said 18-year-old Joseph Taylor turned himself in Tuesday after an arrest warrant was issued in connection with last week's shooting. At his initial court appearance Tuesday, his attorney argued that bail be considered for him later.

Twenty-year-old Davon Taylor was killed, and his 15-year-old sister, Destiny, was injured. They were sitting in a car when they were shot.

Police say Joseph Taylor isn't related to the siblings, but they believe he knew Davon Taylor. His hearing was temporarily delayed Tuesday when several people police say were friends of both men scuffled in a hallway outside the courtroom.

Police say a neighborhood rivalry may have played a role in the shooting.
