WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) _ Westerly officials reviewing their own response to Superstorm Sandy say there are some changes they can make to better deal with future storms.
The Westerly Sun reports the recommendations are contained in a report developed after a January conference attended by town officials, local and state emergency responders, and National Grid personnel.
The Hurricane Sandy After Action Report'' suggests better lines of communication be established between local fire chiefs and the town manager and that an ordinance be passed that would detail how to run emergency checkpoints near areas affected by the storm.
It also suggests that Westerly purchase a generator for Town Hall.
Some of the recommendations, such as setting up a social media site to help disseminate information, have already been implemented.
