PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The Republican candidates for Rhode Island governor are set to debate in Providence.

Cranston Mayor Allan Fung and businessman Ken Block of Barrington will be squaring off at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Providence Performing Arts Center in a debate sponsored by WPRI-TV and The Providence Journal.

WPRI will be broadcasting the debate live and streaming it on its website,

Fung and Block are vying for the Republican nomination for governor in the Sept. 9 primary. The Democratic primary contest features state Treasurer Gina Raimondo, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and political newcomer Clay Pell.

Democratic Gov. Lincoln Chafee isn't seeking re-election.
