PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin is getting in on the ice bucket challenge.

Kilmartin and members of his staff plan to participate in the "douse or donate" challenge that's designed to raise awareness and money for a variety of causes. Friday afternoon's event will raise funds for Special Olympics Rhode Island.

The campaign has people drenching themselves with a bucket of water, capturing it on social media and then challenging others to do the same — or make a donation to charity within 24 hours.

Kilmartin is expected to challenge other prominent members of Rhode Island's law enforcement community to take part. He also will make a personal donation to the Special Olympics.
