NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) _ The Rhode Island state jury commissioner was charged with driving under the influence after a car accident last week.
State police said that they arrested John T. O'Hara of South Kingstown after his car rear-ended another vehicle Aug. 15 on Route 4 in North Kingstown. Troopers also charged him with refusing to submit to a chemical breath test.
The 56-year-old O'Hara pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last week. He didn't immediately return a phone message Wednesday.
O'Hara was appointed state jury commissioner in 2009 after serving eight years as associate commissioner. The jury commissioner is responsible for identifying and summoning qualified jurors for state courts.

State court officials say they're aware of the charges against O'Hara and await the outcome of the case.
