RI Lawmakers Look to Cut Red-Tape

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island lawmakers are continuing their review of state regulations to find government red-tape that could be eliminated.

The Senate Committee on Government Oversight is set to meet Monday with leaders of the state's environment and health agencies.

The meeting is intended to review efforts at the agencies to cut red tape that's a burden to individuals or businesses.

Lawmakers have said boosting the state's business climate is their top priority for the year, and that overly complicated or expensive regulations make it harder to start or operate a business in Rhode Island.
