RI mom accused of taking son granted house arrest

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — A Woonsocket woman accused of illegally taking her 6-year-old son to Washington state and sparking an Amber alert has been granted home confinement while awaiting trial

A Providence Superior Court clerk told WJAR-TV on Monday that a judge granted 34-year-old Andria Britt home confinement. She remains jailed on $50,000 bail until details of the confinement are worked out.

Authorities say Britt shared custody of the boy with his father and violated a court order by taking him to Washington in January.

An Amber Alert was issued after police said documents including Britt's medical records led them to believe the boy might be in danger, but both were found safe. The boy's father now has sole custody of him.

Britt has pleaded not guilty to felony child snatching.
