PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A Johnston man faces sentencing on murder charges after being convicted of killing his girlfriend, then dismembering her and trying to burn her remains in a fireplace.
Donald Greenslit was found guilty in March of first degree murder and other charges in the January 2012 stabbing death of 39-year-old Stacie Dorego.
Sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday.
Dorgeo's killing was discovered after someone reported to authorities that smoke was coming from Greenslit's home.
Authorities say they found Dorego's burned remains in a fireplace and the couple's children, ages 3 and 5, sitting in a bedroom and coughing from the smoke.
