PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Authorities and former Rhode Island House Speaker Gordon Fox are still not commenting on why the FBI, IRS and state police raided Fox's home and Statehouse office on Friday.
Fox resigned his leadership position over the weekend, but has not commented on the investigation except to say that he wanted to focus on it. He has hired a lawyer, Albin Moser, who would not comment on Monday.
The U.S. Attorney's office also would not comment. Agents spent hours at Fox's home and office on Friday, then left with several boxes of evidence.
It is still unknown whether Fox is the target of the criminal investigation and what the investigation is looking at.
Fox has a private law practice. He plans to keep his House seat representing a section Providence's East Side neighborhood.
