PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ An Amtrak project to replace railroad ties across New England will interrupt commuter rail service in Rhode Island.
The state Department of Transportation says MBTA service between the Providence, T.F. Green and Wickford Junction stations will be affected for five consecutive Fridays in July and August starting this week.
Six trains that service Rhode Island's commuter rail stops will be affected. Train 8803 from Providence to Wickford Junction will not stop at the airport. Trains 813, 817 and 819 from Boston to Wickford Junction will end at the airport and buses will be available to take passengers to Wickford.
Trains 8802 and 8804 from Wickford Junction to Providence will not operate. Buses will take passengers from Wickford Junction to the airport and Providence.
