PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A traveling replica of the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be in Providence through the weekend.

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute is on display through Sunday at India Point Park, and it's free to visit.

The memorial is 80 percent of the size of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington. The display is being sponsored by Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, a group that helps provide housing and other assistance for homeless and low-income veterans.

The ceremony being held to open the display on Thursday will feature a special tribute to Sgt. 1st Class Lewis Walton, a Cranston native killed in action during the Vietnam War. His were the last remains of a Rhode Islander killed during the war to be returned home, in 2004.
