NORTH SCITUATE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island State Police say 12 individuals were arrested and charged with driving under the influence over the three-day Labor Day weekend.
Police said Tuesday that one of the drivers was found to have had a blood alcohol level of more than five times the legal limit. He was immediately arraigned and taken to Fatima Hospital for evaluation and detoxification.
Police said they also issued 288 speeding violations and 150 seatbelt or child restraint violations from Friday through Monday. There were 48 accidents, including one involving an intoxicated driver, but none of the crashes were fatal.
