CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — A Warwick man who has already been arrested on motor vehicle charges has been accused of driving into a state trooper after being stopped for suspected drunken-driving.
The state trooper had pulled over 24-year-old Justin Tallo early Saturday morning.
The Providence Journal reports that Tallo bolted and state police say his car struck the trooper, who wasn't injured. Tallo fled and was caught minutes later.
It was not known Sunday if he's represented by a lawyer.
Tallo pleaded no contest to driving under the influence six months ago and lost his license for three months. He was arrested recently for driving with a suspended license.
State police charged Tallo with assault with a deadly weapon, a subsequent offense of driving under the influence and other offenses. He was held for arraignment.
