TIRED EMPLOYEES ARE COSTING EMPLOYERS A TON OF DOUGH

While we’d all love to say we arrive at work bright eyed and bushy tailed each morning, the truth is most people will probably admit they are pretty tired even from the minute they step into the office. And while many of us power through that exhaustion, it turns out those yawnning employees  could be costing companies a lot of money.

A new National Safety Council Report finds that companies with about 1,000 workers will lose about $1.4 million a year because of exhausted employees, due to absenteeism, diminished productivity, and healthcare costs. And that number goes up to $80 million a year for the average-sized Fortune 500 company.

Overall, the NSC survey finds that 76% of Americans admit they feel tired at work, while 43% get an insufficient amount of sleep, which could not only jeopardize safety, but impair a person’s ability to be productive, make informed decisions and more.
