Bill Calls For Drug Testing For Those On Welfare

(Providence, RI)  --  A proposed bill in the state Senate calls for those on welfare who test positive for drugs to lose their assistance.  Under the proposed legislation Republican Senator Elaine Morgan's bill would cut assistance for a year.  Morgan says those accepting state taxpayer money should be subject to the same random drug testing they might have to undergo in the workplace.  At least 15 states have laws similar to Morgan's proposal.
