TRUMP PASSES ON CORRESPONDENTS DINNER

President Donald Trump has announced he won't be attending this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner. The announcement comes amid growing tensions between Trump and the media. A few days ago, the White House selectively blocked certain news organizations from a press briefing.

The correspondents' dinner, which will continue as planned on April 29th, honors journalists who cover the White House and awards scholarships to aspiring reporters. Trump is the first sitting president in 36-years not to attend the gala. Skipping this event makes perfect sense because there's no winning equation here. Trump's relationship with the press leaves little to no room for light ribbing and the event could turn ugly and that's the last thing this divided nation needs to see. I've always been uncomfortable watching the sitting president trying to do light schtick at this event which is nothing more than a bunch of journalists patting themselves on the back and Trump's doesn't exactly take ribbing lightly. His is a GOOD decision to skip this event as there can be NO winners here.
