(Providence, RI) -- Senator Leonidas Raptakis is proposing a bill to impose penalties for leaving a child under the age of seven alone in a vehicle. The Coventry Democrat says there's currently no penalty beyond a warning for leaving a young child unattended. His bill would make the offense a misdemeanor punishable by up to a thousand-dollar fine and up to one year in jail.
