Providence City Council Seeks To Override Mayor's Smoking Ban Veto

(Providence, RI)  --  There's a plan to override Providence Mayor Elorza's veto of a controversial smoking ban.  Acting City Council President Sabina Matos says that city council's attempt will happen tomorrow.  Matos needs ten votes for the override.  The ordinance would prohibit the use of tobacco products in areas surrounding Kennedy Plaza and Burnside Park, where tobacco use is already prohibited.
