WILL THERE BE A WILD CARD IN RI GOV'S RACE?

Let me start by saying I take EVERY political poll with a great big grain of salt. That said, a rolling survey by MORNING CONSULT says Governor Gina Raimondo's approval rating has dropped and her disapproval rating's on the rise. Raimondo's at 43% approval and 47% disapproval according to the survey conducted from April 1st through July 10th. RI GOP Chairman Brandon Bell was quick to jump on the soft numbers saying Raimondo wears her ambition on her sleeve and treats Rhode Island as her stepping stone and Rhode Islanders know this."Bell suggests Raimondo "take a cue from her predecessor, former Governor Linc Chafee, when he faced poor polling numbers, drop out of the race for governor." Well, first of all, there's nothing wrong with being ambitious. Secondly, the chances of Raimondo deciding NOT to run for Governor are about as good as white smoke streaming from the Vatican and I'm named Pope Ron the First. If these numbers are accurate, Raimondo would be vulnerable in a two person reelection contest next year. She won what was essentially a three person race in 2014 when the late Bob Healy, running as a moderate, hauled in 21% of the vote.  Could we be heading towards another 3 person race? Linc Chafee's certainly sounding like a canadiate and who knows what party he'll align himself to.
