(Providence, RI) -- The state Supreme Court Commission on Judicial Tenure and Discipline is recommending the court remove District Court Judge Rafael Ovalles from the bench. The commission's 240-page report released yesterday says Ovalles committed 41 violations of the Rhode Island Code of Judicial Conduct. Ovalles has less than three weeks to reject or modify the report and the commission will then have 20 days to rebut any changes. The Supreme Court will have 90 days to review the findings.
