Police Shooting Suspect Declared Incompetent

(Woonsocket, RI)  --  The suspect charged with shooting a Woonsocket police officer last month is being declared incompetent to stand trial.  The Valley Breeze reports the declaration was made for Portsmouth native Tyler Chandler on Tuesday following a mental health evaluation by the Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals.  A judicial spokesperson notes incompetency rulings are not permanent and defendants are re-evaluated.  Chandler remains in custody at Eleanor Slater Hospital in Cranston.
